Terms of Service
Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or otherwise using project-b, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
What project-b is
project-b is a household budgeting tool that is under active development. Features may be added, changed or removed without notice, and behaviour or data formats may change between releases. It is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind.
Your account
You need an account to use the app, and sign-in is provided by Clerk. Keep your credentials safe and tell us if you think your account has been compromised. One account is for one person: please do not share a login inside your household.
Households and shared data
A household's shared data — its name, categories, budget, expenses and IOUs — is visible to every member of that household. Your own take-home income is not. If you create a household you become its owner and may remove members.
Acceptable use
Please use project-b reasonably:
- Do not use it for anything unlawful, or to record data about people who have not agreed to it.
- Do not try to break, overload or circumvent the service, or to reach data belonging to a household you are not a member of.
- Do not scrape or resell the service, or use it to build a competing product.
Your content
What you enter stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it for the sole purpose of running the app for you. Keeping your own records is your responsibility: we do not provide a backup you can treat as a system of record.
Not financial advice
project-b is a budgeting aid, not financial, tax or legal advice, and it is not a bank, an accounting service or a payment service. The figures it shows are the ones you or your household typed in.
Fees
project-b is free to use today. If we introduce paid plans, we will say so clearly before anything is charged, and you will always be able to stop using the service instead.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service up, but we promise no uptime. It may be unavailable during maintenance, and it may be changed or discontinued. Because this is an early-stage project, that risk is higher than it would be with an established service.
Ending your use
You can stop using project-b, leave a household, or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or where we must for legal or security reasons.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is limited to what you have paid us — which, while the service is free, is nothing.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and where the consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you stronger rights, those rights prevail.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law that applies where the operator of the service is established, alongside the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your own country of residence — which prevail wherever they give you stronger rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Continuing to use project-b after an update means you accept the new version; the date at the top always shows the current one.
