Privacy Policy
Who we are
project-b is a web app for budgeting a household's money. It is run by the operator of this site (“we”) and is still under active development. This policy explains what the app stores about you, why, and the choices you have.
What we store
- An account identifier. Signing in gives us an internal user ID from our authentication provider, Clerk. We store that ID only.
- The profile details you enter: your display name, your household's name, its invite code, and your language preference.
- The figures you enter: monthly take-home income, budgets and categories, expenses and IOUs.
- Technical logs: requests (IP address, time, path, response status) so we can run the service and diagnose faults.
Who else is involved
We rely on a small number of third parties to run project-b. None of them receive your data for their own marketing:
- Clerk — sign-in, session management and your email address.
- Google Fonts — the typeface is fetched from Google's font CDN.
- Vultr — the virtual private server running the app and its database.
- Let's Encrypt — issues the TLS certificate for this site.
There is no analytics, advertising or tracking code in the app or on this site.
What we never do
- We do not connect to your bank or ask for account numbers.
- We never sell or rent your data.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
How long we keep it
Your data stays in the app's database until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your user record and your membership of every household; if you own a household, ownership is handed to another member first.
Your choices
- Change the app language at any time in Settings.
- Delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger zone.
- Leave a household without deleting your account.
- Your take-home income is private: other members cannot see it.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, sign-in tokens are verified on every request, and a household's data can only be read by its members. No service is perfectly secure, and this one is still being built.
Children
project-b is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone below the age of consent where they live.
Changes to this policy
This policy will change as the app does. We update the date at the top whenever it does, and announce material changes in the app.
